Notice: Pride Week 2020 Canceled

In light of the guidance that the University has sent out around COVID-19, the LGBTQ Center has made the decision to cancel Pride Week. While we are very disappointed to lose this chance to celebrate LGBTQ identity and community, we are also sensitive to the importance of social distancing in preserving the health of as many members of our community as possible.

Pride Week at Carolina will be April 6 – 13, 2021

The LGBTQ Center is partnering with other campus organizations to host Pride Week at Carolina from April 6th to 13th, 2021.

Pride Week at Carolina is a partnership between the LGBTQ Center, student organizations, University departments, and community organizations to host events that center themes of history, inclusion, intersectionality, expression, and advocacy within Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, and Asexual (LGBTIQA+) communities.

In alignment with the University moving to Condition 2 due to impending inclement winter weather, the LGBTQ Center is canceling programs for today: Thursday, February 18th. We hope that you and yours are able to stay safe and warm.

Carolina’s first-ever Queer MiniCon on October 9 and 13, 2020 showcases LGBTQIA+ research, art, literature, and lived experiences at North Carolina colleges and universities

LGBTIQA+ folks who work for the University in ANY capacity are welcome join the LGBTQ Center once per month to enjoy casual conversation, build relationships, and support one another. Feel free to bring your affirming friends, colleagues, and loved ones.

(Formerly Graduate Speaker Series) LGBTIQA+ Speaker Series is a program of QGAPS (Queer Graduate and Professional Students), a collaboration between the LGBTQ Center and the Graduate School's Program for Diversity & Student Success, with the goal to share the work of graduate & professional students, faculty, and local professionals conducting research related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.

Trans Talk Tuesday is a year-round peer support/discussion group for people who identify as transgender, gender non-conforming, or who are questioning their gender. This space is meant to provide community and connection among folks on the basis of gender identity.

The Center provides direct support programs and services including programs designed to address identity development, leadership development, and relationship skills development.

Gender Week is March 18 - 22, 2019.

The Carolina Women’s Center and the LGBTQ Center organize Gender Week to encourage the campus and greater communities to better understand and map the intersections of identity and examine the ways that gender, race, class, etc. influence our daily lives.

The intersectional focus of Gender Week will challenge us to reexamine the assumptions and actions that make up our habits, while we have in-depth discussions of context and history to illuminate many truths about our identities and experiences that are often ignored.

LGBTQ Leadership Lunch is a catered lunchtime session on the fourth Tuesday of each month on a topic that will help you refine and develop leadership skills relevant to both your personal and professional life. Our identities as LGBTIQA+ identified individuals and allies impact who we are as leaders and are, therefore, an important part of our discussions and time together.

Catered lunch will be provided by the UNC-CH LGBTQ Center to all who register.
