It’s happening again y’all!

Faculty and staff, stop by the LGBTQ Center on Thursday, March 13 from 12:30pm-2:00pm for a discussion of adrienne maree brown’s “Loving Corrections.” The last Corrections Café was filled with warmth, reflection, and joy, we would love to have you help us create that space again. You are welcome whether you have read the full book, parts of it, or none at all -- this space is for you to connect and feel held. The full text is available at UNC Libraries -- go to https://go.unc.edu/FSCC or the link in our bio to RSVP and join the mailing list. See y’all soon!

Celebrate Black History Month with the LGBTQ Center on Thursday, February 27 from 5-6:30pm in Upendo 1114 in a unique showcase of archived films from Durham-based Comfrey Films. After the showing of three short films, attendees will be invited to respond via writing, poetry, or video, exploring topics of afrofuturism, Black, and Trans identity. These reflections will be shared with the filmmakers themselves. In this intimate evening, have the chance to be in conversation with and held by innovative storytellers and the worlds they've created -- and be inspired to create your own.

This event is eligible for CLE credit. RSVP here on HeelLife!

Join the LGBTQ Center in Coker Arboretum on November 19 from 4pm-5:30pm to honor Trans Day of Remembrance. Together, attendees will be invited to write words of remembrance on slips of water-soluble paper, then be guided through planting the words alongside native seeds in small pots. The pots will then be donated to a nearby area to be planted so the memory can live on. Artists and poets who are interested in helping to create an environment of grounding, reflection, community, and heart can supply in-person performance, written text, visual artwork, or other mediums.
