Celebrate Black History Month with the LGBTQ Center on Thursday, February 27 from 5-6:30pm in Upendo 1114 in a unique showcase of archived films from Durham-based Comfrey Films. After the showing of three short films, attendees will be invited to respond via writing, poetry, or video, exploring topics of afrofuturism, Black, and Trans identity. These reflections will be shared with the filmmakers themselves. In this intimate evening, have the chance to be in conversation with and held by innovative storytellers and the worlds they've created -- and be inspired to create your own.

A bit about adrienne:
adrienne maree brown (she/they) is growing a garden of healing ideas. Informed by 27 years of movement facilitation, somatics, science fiction scholarship and doula work, adrienne has nurtured Emergent Strategy, Pleasure Activism, Radical Imagination and Loving Correction as ideas and practices for transformation. adrienne is the NYT-bestselling author/editor of several published texts, a ritual singer-songwriter, co-generator of the Lineages of Change Tarot Deck, and co-creator/host of How to Survive the End of the World podcast with Autumn Brown. adrienne’s latest book Loving Corrections is now available from AK Press.

The UNC LGBTQ Center and The Pleasure Activists will be co-hosting a healthy relationships and visioning board event in the Student Wellness Zen Den. Beginning with a brief presentation on healthy relationships drawing from adrienne marie brown's work, participants will leave with a digital or physical vision board imagining stronger and more fulfilling relationships in their lives--to their community, their family, and themselves.
