Educating for Equality
The purpose of the LGBTQ Center Safe Zone program is to create a network of allies for individuals who may be marginalized on the basis of their sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or gender expression. All UNC-Chapel Hill faculty, staff, and students are eligible to become Safe Zone trainees. Training sessions take place several times a semester, and customized Safe Zone trainings can be scheduled with the LGBTQ Center on behalf of any department, group, or organization.

Bone-jour! Are you looking to create community and get involved on campus? Stop by the UNC LGBTQ Center on Friday, January 16 at 2:30pm for our B.O.N.E.S. Student Ambassador interest meeting! Students who join our “Skeleton Crew” have the opportunity to be part of a core team for the LGBTQ Center: building connections, supporting Center events and activities, developing leadership skills, and fostering campus-wide community. CrafTea Time is BACK! Shake up your January with something refreshing and creative! Join the LGBTQ Center for a monthly CrafTea Time on Wednesday, January 14 from 2 PM to 4 PM. This month’s theme is Mocktail Mixer: stop by to craft your own colorful, pride – inspired cocktails. All supplies are provided; just bring yourself and a friend for a crafternopn of mixing and making. A student-led initiative to discuss, learn, and share your experiences both at the university and beyond. Come see familiar faces, meet new people, and develop community with us. The GVSC Victim Services Specialists provide confidential support and advocacy for all students, faculty, staff, and post-doctoral fellows of all backgrounds and identities who have experienced or have been impacted by gender-based violence or harassment before or during their time at Carolina. Services include emotional support, assistance in understanding options, referrals to resources, and safety planning. VSSs offer drop-in hours at the LGBTQ Center (SASB South Suite 3308) on Thursdays from 3-5pm on the following dates: January 8, January 29, February 5, February 19, March 5, March 26, April 16, April 23. To set up an appointment, email [email protected] or call (919) 962-1343. Appointments are NOT needed for drop-in hours.
