The LGBTQ Center is collaborating with on-campus and community organizations to host the 2023 Pride Week at Carolina celebrations from April 10th through April 14th. In honor of the LGBTQ Center's 20th anniversary, this year's theme is "For connection. For community. For change."
Pride Week volunteer applications are now CLOSED. The finalized volunteer schedule has been sent to all applicants.
Pride Week at Carolina is an annual partnership between the LGBTQ Center, university departments, and student and community organizations for a week of events that center LGBTQIA+ history, inclusion, intersectionality, expression, and advocacy.

20th Anniversary Gallery: Opening Reception

Step into the history of the LGBTQ Center and learn about the people and programs that shaped the foundation of our work at UNC-Chapel Hill. As we explore two decades of education, community, support, and advocacy, we hope you will join us to honor and celebrate our past before we forge ahead toward the future.
The gallery will remain open for viewing through the end of Pride Week.
Pride in the Pit

Connect with current staff and student volunteers to discover what the LGBTQ Center is working on in the present day. Learn about the variety of services we offer in support of the Carolina LGBTQIA+ community and how YOU can be involved. There will be food, games, giveaways and more!
Twilight Thursday at the NC Botanical Gardens
Date: Thursday, April 13th
Time: 4:00 to 7:00 PM
Location: NC Botanical Gardens (100 Old Mason Farm Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27517)
Join us for a Rainbow Walk through the NC Botanical Gardens and find your roots in nature. After the walk, we will reconvene for light refreshments and conversation. Anna Batsakes will be performing on alchemy crystal bowls before and after the walk, and we will be featuring readings from outgoing Chapel Hill Poet Laureate CJ Suitt and incoming Chapel Hill Poet Laureate Cortland Gilliam.
Reception and Musical Performance with Taína Asili

Taína Asili is a New York-based Puerto Rican singer, composer, educator, filmmaker and activist carrying on the tradition of her ancestors, fusing past and present struggles into one soulful and defiant voice. For over 20 years she has brought the music of love and liberation to venues across the globe – from the Women’s March on Washington to Carnegie Hall to the mainstage of San Francisco Pride. Taína Asili combines powerful vocals and an energetic multi-genre fusion – confidently weaving between salsa, rock, reggae, cumbia, reggaeton, and hip hop – with multilingual songs that beat with the heart of social change. No matter the constellation, Taína always exudes strength of Spirit, inspiring audiences to dance to the rhythm of rebellion!
Exploring Campus with CPAN (Carolina Pride Alumni Network)

Our LGBTQIA+ alums will be leading tours across campus through the morning and afternoon. The tours will feature previews of LGBTQIA+ spaces on campus, and provide insight into some resources available for queer students at Carolina. After the tours, we will be convening at the LGBTQ Center for light refreshments and conversation before the premiere of "The Story of Us: Oral Histories of LGBTQIA+ Alum" at 7:00 PM in the Global FedEx Center.
