April 8, 2024 — Mindfulness Monday
Mindfulness Walk & Peaceful Painting – 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 2 p.m.-4 p.m., Coker Arboretum
Start your Pride Week by slowing down and reconnecting with nature! Taking place in the Coker Arboretum, be guided in an hour-long walking meditation led by a member of the North Carolina Botanical Gardens. Afterward, reconnect with yourself by painting and reflecting on what you observed on the walk.
April 9, 2024 — Be Rooted Tuesday
Sow Beautiful Plant Giveaway – 2:00-3:30 p.m., Davis Edible Garden
Swipe through the Twigder dating app and find a plant partner rooted in queer history to bring home with you! To set the mood, "have a drink with your date" with tea sourced from the garden and "spice it up" with queer herbs from the Garden. **eligible for CLE credit
OUTspoken – 7:00-8:30 p.m., Stone Center Hitchcock Multipurpose Room
An evening celebrating BIPOC creativity and beauty. Featuring spoken word from Ebony Readers Onyx Theatre, music by students, and a fashion showcase by Xpressions, OUTspoken will be an intimate and transformative event to reconnect with community. **eligible for CLE credit
April 10 — Pride in the Pit Wednesday
Pride in the Pit – 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., the Pit
The cornerstone of Pride Week! Come out and celebrate your Pride — enjoy games, trivia, free prizes, free t-shirts, free food, an “Out & Proud” portrait station with a professional photographer, and fun in the Pit with your community!
Intergenerational Dinner – 6:00-8 p.m., Graduate Student Center
Celebrate LGBTQ Center Pride Week with a dinner for LGBTQIA+ graduate students and Orange County seniors! This is a special opportunity to learn and connect over each other's unique experiences and life stories. This event is a collaboration between QGAPS and the Orange County Department on Aging's LGBTQ Senior Resource Team (SRT).
April 11, Queer Camp Thursday
Queer Camp Craft Break – 3:00-5:00 p.m., Murray Hall BeAM Makerspace
To commemorate Pride Week 2024, come explore the Murray Hall BeAM Makerspace and make buttons, fridge magnets, or any other craft to celebrate your Pride!
All Heels Belong Here BBQ Fundraiser – 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., Stone Center Ampitheatre
Come celebrate being Southern and queer with delicious BBQ (vegan options available), great company, and free LGBTQ+ stickers and posters, with proceeds benefiting the LGBTQ Center!
Disc-O-Fever Ultimate Frisbee – 7:00-9:00 p.m., Karen Shelton Stadium
At dusk, come out and enjoy a few rounds of glow-in-the-dark ultimate frisbee!
April 12 — Shell-o-Bration Friday
Coffee & Conversation with CPAN, 3pm-4pm, Graham Memorial Rm 039
Join three members of Carolina Pride Alumni Network for an afternoon coffee chat! You are invited to join the conversation and ask anything from general questions about their career paths, their experiences at Carolina, or you can simply use the opportunity to expand your network. Hosted by Honors Carolina PRIDE.
Merfolk Shell-o-Bration Pool Party – 8-10 p.m., Bowman Gray Pool
Our capstone to Pride Week, the Shell-O-Bration will be a merfolk-themed pool party! With free food, prizes, and dress-up materials, come celebrate all of Pride Week together.
